FAQ: Sponsors of Clinical Trials

Who sponsors clinical trials and where are they conducted?
Clinical trials are sponsored or funded by different organizations or individuals such as physicians, medical institutions, foundations, voluntary groups, and pharmaceutical companies, in addition to federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense (DOD), and the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA).
Where are Clinical Trials conducted?
Trials can take place in a variety of locations, such as hospitals, universities (please see Bluestone Center below), doctors' offices, or community clinics.
Why should I consider the Bluestone Center for Clinical Research?
The staff at the Bluestone Center is specifically trained in conducting clinical research and to make participants feel like they are part of the research team. The result is a very personalized, nurturing, patient-centered environment that is more homey than hospital-like.
Participating in Bluestone Center clinical trials offers patients an excellent way to understand clinical research, in addition to receiving special attention for a medical or dental condition. It also provides an opportunity to help others who may be suffering from a common or rare disease or illness, now or in the future. At the Bluestone Center we always stay focused on the needs and desires of individual patients.
