If you are at least 18 years of age and suffer from systematic lupus, then you may qualify to participate in a research study at the NYU Bluestone Center for Clinical Research.

This lupus study conducted at the NYU Bluestone Center for Clinical Research requires that interested participants must be diagnosed with lupus for at least six months prior to enrollment, as well as, be willing to comply with study procedures and required study participation visits to be eligible to participate in this study.

This study consists of 10-13 visits to our study site, over a one to two month period. Participants can be compensated for time and travel expenses, if they qualify.

To determine if you may qualify for this study, you can  directly call our Clinical Research Coordinator, Margaret Andrew at 212-998-9626 or Email bluestone.center@nyu.edu.

Study Background:

Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys. In an autoimmune disorder like lupus, the immune system cannot tell the difference between foreign substances and its own cells and tissues. The immune system then makes antibodies directed against itself. These antibodies -- called "auto-antibodies" (auto referring to 'self') - cause inflammation, pain and damage in various parts of the body.

Study Status: This study is ongoing and open for enrolment.
